2020 Marielise Thomas Batardiere Chenin Clos de Cocus
2020 Marielise Thomas Batardiere Chenin Clos de Cocus
A native of Angers, Thomas Batardier was not born into a winemaking family and actually spent some time working as a cinematographer for films before being drawn into the wine world.
He took on his first real apprenticeship with Mathieu Vallée at Château Yvonne, while also taking the Viticulture course in Beaune from 2009 to 2011. Thomas practices biodynamic viticulture and became Demeter certified with his 2015 vintage.
This wine comes from a sole parcel of Chenin, planted in 1958 in Faye Anjou, a neighboring village. The Clos des Cocus terroir is the summit of a hillside (southwest) very exposed to winds.
No new oak, this chenin is fresh and vibrant with just enough body and concentration to be the perfect pairing with food!
